Segment ProtectorThe R-SP-E12 is a high-density fieldbus coupler from the Pepperl+Fuchs FieldConnex product family. It is designed for fieldbus distribution in hazardous-area process automation systems.
The Segment Protector provides 12 individual spur connections, allowing up to 12 field devices to be connected to a single fieldbus trunk. Each output has separate short-circuit current limitation, helping prevent a fault on one spur from interrupting communication on the rest of the segment.
The trunk and spur connections use increased-safety Ex e protection, while the unit is suitable for installation in Zone 1 / Division 2 hazardous areas. An integrated, selectable 100 Ω fieldbus terminator is provided, together with LED indicators for power, communication, termination and channel faults.
