Product parameters

Power supply: Field bus connection 9... 32 V DC, the maximum main line is 32 V / 40 mA, the maximum rated voltage of the branch is 32 V, the maximum rated current is 52 mA, and the short-circuit current refers to the general instructions.

Interface (Field Bus) : Trunk: Fixed screw terminals, supporting shielding and grounding concepts; Spur: 12 Ex e outputs, maximum spur length depends on cable type (e.g., 1m under 0.8mm ² cable), short-circuit protection limits current.

Performance indicators: Supports up to 31 devices/segments, with a maximum cable length of 1900 m (depending on the cable type), integrated terminal resistance of 100 Ω (optional), surge protection for both main and branch lines, and an automatic response time to recover from a fault of less than 1 second.

Isolation and Security The main and branch circuits are Ex e (enhanced safety), the section protectors are installed in Zone 1/ Div.2, the instruments are installed in Zone 1/ Div.1, the protection grade is IP20 (inside the cabinet), it complies with SIL 2/3 (IEC 61508), and the electromagnetic compatibility complies with EN 61326-1:2013.

Certification: CE, ATEX (II 2G Ex e IIC T4 Gb, etc.), IECEx, cULus, compliant with 2014/34/EU (Equipment Directive) and EN 60079 series, applicable to hazardous areas.

Mechanical parameters: Dimensions approximately 20 x 124 x 115 mm (DIN rail module), weight approximately 200 g, installed on 35 mm DIN rail, fixed screw terminal (2.5 mm² / AWG 12-24), ambient temperature -40... 70 °C, humidity 5... 95% (non-condensing), spring terminals are optional.

Function

As a device coupler connecting field instruments to the bus segment, it provides short-circuit protection for 12 branches. In case of a fault, it automatically limits the current to ensure the overall operation of the segment.

Integrated surge protection and an optional 100 Ω terminal resistor, supporting high availability design and thermal operation maintenance (permission required).

It is equipped with LED indicator lights to display power, faults and section status, which is convenient for diagnosis and maintenance, and automatically restores the function of the branch circuit.

Supports the High-Power Trunk concept, is compatible with Entity and FISCO models, and allows for mixed instrument topologies and redundant power supplies.

Easy to integrate inside the cabinet, supports custom enclosures, is compatible with FOUNDATION Fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA, and provides advanced diagnostic modules.

Application scenarios

R-SP-E12 is widely used in process industries such as petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, oil refining and mining, and is suitable for cabinet installation in Zone 1/ Div.2 and field instrumentation in Zone 1/ Div.1. It is used to protect the field bus segment from branch short circuits, ensure segment continuity during thermal operation or equipment maintenance, and support diagnostic applications in IIoT and Industry 4.0. The equipment complies with ATEX, IECEx and cULus certifications and is suitable for automation systems that require high reliability and explosion protection, such as fieldbus infrastructure in large process plants.
