    FIP Bus Controller

Product parameters

Communication core: Supports PROFIBUS-DP V1 protocol, fully compatible with IEC 61158 standard, and compatible with the entire series of GE 90-70 cpus.

Interface specification: RS-485 differential signal interface with shielded ground terminal, GE standard 32mm wide rack mounting design, seamlessly compatible with Series 90-70 module rack.

Transmission performance: The baud rate is adjustable from 9.6kbit/s to 12Mbit/s, supporting manual configuration by GE programming software or automatic negotiation. The maximum bus load is 32 nodes (without Repeaters), and it can be expanded to 125 nodes through GE dedicated Repeaters.

Power supply and power consumption: Fully dependent on the GE 90-70 rack backplane bus for power supply (DC 5V), typical power consumption 2.5W, maximum current 500mA, no additional independent power supply required.

Isolation and protection: 500V DC electrical isolation between the bus side and the backplane bus, in compliance with GE industrial-grade EMC standards, with anti-interference capability suitable for complex industrial environments.

Environmental parameters: Operating temperature 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature -40°C to +85°C, humidity 5% to 95% (no condensation), protection grade IP20.

Core function

PROFIBUS-DP master-Slave dual-mode: Configured through GE Proficy Machine Edition software, it can be switched to DP master station or DP slave station, adapting to scenarios where GE PLC is used as the control core or the slave station is connected.

Seamless integration of GE systems: Data is directly mapped to the I/O image area or data register of the GE 90-70 PLC without the need for additional gateway conversion. It is compatible with the GE ladder diagram and function block programming environment, and the programming configuration is convenient.

GE exclusive diagnostic function: Supports diagnosis of module power failure, bus communication failure, slave station offline, etc. Fault information can be fed back through the PLC diagnostic register and the module LED indicator light, adapting to the fault troubleshooting logic of the GE system.

Hot-swapping and redundancy support: Complies with the GE 90-70 rack hot-swapping specification. Modules can be replaced while powered on without restarting the PLC. Supports coordination with GE redundant cpus to ensure the redundancy and reliability of communication links.

Third-party device compatibility: Adhering to the PROFIBUS-DP V1 standard, it can communicate with DP slave stations of brands such as Siemens and Schneider, and is perfectly compatible with GE's own DP slave station modules.

Application scenarios

GE 90-70 PLC Bus Expansion: In the power and metallurgical industries, the GE 90-70 PLC serves as the main controller. Through this module, it is connected to the PROFIBUS-DP bus to link distributed I/O modules, frequency converters, valve positioners and other devices, achieving centralized control.

Upgrade of GE old system: When the communication interface of the original GE 90-70 control system needs to be expanded, there is no need to replace the CPU. Just add this module to connect to the PROFIBUS-DP network, reuse the existing GE hardware resources, and reduce the upgrade cost.

Cross-brand system interconnection: The GE 90-70 PLC communicates with the Siemens S7-300/400 system and the Schneider Modicon system via the PROFIBUS-DP bus to achieve collaborative control of devices from different brands.

GE Process Control communication: In the chemical and petroleum industries, the GE 90-70 PLC communicates with PROFIBUS-DP type pressure transmitters, flow meters, and temperature sensors through this module to collect process parameters and issue control instructions, adapting to the GE process control solution.

GE Remote I/O Expansion: As a DP master station, it connects to remote I/O modules such as GE IC693BEM331, expanding the I/O points of GE 90-70 PLC to meet the distributed control requirements of large-scale equipment.
