Product parameters

Communication specification: Supports Series 90-70 dedicated parallel expansion bus, transmission type is high-speed parallel communication, equipped with 2 bus interfaces (Port 1 is connected to the mainframe/front-end module, port 2 is connected to the expansion rack/back-end module).

Transmission performance: The data transmission rate can reach up to 500 Kbytes/sec, ensuring real-time data interaction between the mainframe rack and the expansion rack. The maximum interconnection cable length is 50 feet (approximately 15.2 meters), supporting short-distance rack expansion.

Expansion capability: A single host rack can cascade up to 7 IC697 series expansion racks through this module, significantly increasing the system I/O installation capacity.

Power supply and power consumption: Fully dependent on the Series 90-70 rack backplane bus for power supply (DC 5V), with a typical backplane current value of 0.9A, no independent external power supply is required.

Physics and Environment: Compatible with Series 90-70 standard racks; Operating temperature: 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature: -40°C to +85°C, protection grade: IP20, complies with CE, UL, and CSA industrial certification standards.

Installation requirements: It should be installed in slot 1 of the expansion rack and used in conjunction with the IC697BEM711/713 module of the main rack.

Function

Rack-level expansion: As a "communication bridge" between the mainframe rack and the expansion rack, it enables high-speed parallel data transmission among multiple racks, allowing the I/O modules of the expansion rack to be seamlessly integrated into the control range of the mainframe CPU and solving the problem of insufficient I/O slots on a single rack.

Data fault tolerance protection: When communication is interrupted, it can maintain the last output state of the I/O module of the expansion rack, prevent the system from malfunctioning due to communication anomalies, and enhance control stability. Supports fault isolation. The failure of a single expansion rack does not affect the operation of the main rack and other expansion racks.

Status visualization diagnosis: Equipped with LED indicator lights, it provides intuitive feedback on the power supply of the module, communication links, and rack status. Support reading fault codes through programming software to quickly locate issues such as bus interruptions and racks not being ready.

No hardware configuration required: There is no need to manually set the DIP switch. Rack expansion configuration can be carried out through programming software such as GE Proficy Machine Edition. The configuration is simple and compatible with all Series 90-70 cpus.

Cascading expansion support: Supports multi-module cascading. By connecting multiple IC697BEM713 modules in series, the maximum configuration of 7 expansion racks can be achieved, meeting the distributed layout requirements of large-scale systems.

Application scenarios

Control of large-scale industrial production lines: In complex production lines in industries such as automobiles, electronics, and building materials, when the main frame cannot accommodate all I/O modules, multiple decentralized racks can be expanded through these modules, and I/O devices can be deployed in process zones to achieve centralized control and decentralized layout.

Multi-zone control in process industries: In large-scale facilities in the chemical, metallurgical, and power industries, expansion racks are configured by zone. Through modules, the main frame can achieve unified control and data collection of equipment in each zone, reducing long-distance signal wiring.

Upgrade of old system capacity: When the existing Series 90-70 systems need to increase I/O points due to capacity expansion or new process additions, there is no need to replace the main CPU and host rack. Only by expanding the new rack through this module can the resources of the original control system be reused, reducing the upgrade cost.

Multi-unit control of large-scale equipment: In large-scale equipment such as machine tool clusters, warehousing and logistics systems, and production line conveyor lines, expansion racks are configured according to functional units, and the master station achieves collaborative control and status monitoring of each unit through modules.
