Bently Nevada 3500/53-03-01 Electronic Overspeed Detection System, Three-Channel, CSA/NRTL/C

The 3500/53-03-01 provides dedicated overspeed detection for critical rotating machinery. The “-03” option indicates a three-channel system, while “-01” indicates CSA/NRTL/C agency approval. The system accepts speed signals from proximity probes or magnetic pickups and provides fast alarm/shutdown response.

The 3500/53 modules can be combined into a redundant 2oo2 or 2oo3 voting architecture, making the system suitable for high-integrity overspeed protection. A 3500 rack with redundant power supplies is mandatory when using the 3500/53 system.

Bently Nevada documentation states that the 3500/53 was developed for overspeed protection in accordance with API 670 and API 612 requirements.

Baker Hughes specifically recommends the 3701/55 ADAPT ESD for future Bently Nevada overspeed detection and emergency shutdown applications. However, it should not be treated as a drop-in/direct replacement for the 3500/53-03-01 because the architecture, installation, engineering configuration, and system integration are different. Existing 3500/53 installations should be evaluated for compatibility before migration.
