The MS165-54 provides protection against motor overload, phase failure and short circuits. It features a built-in disconnect function, temperature compensation, trip-free mechanism, fault indication and a lockable rotary handle.

The adjustable overload current range is 40–54 A, making it suitable for motor applications up to approximately 30 kW at 400 V AC, depending on the motor and coordination requirements. ABB coordination data lists MS165-54 for 25 kW and 30 kW motor applications.

② Adjustable Current Range

40–54 A

The motor protection setting should be adjusted according to the actual motor rated current. ABB specifically notes that manual motor starters should be selected so that the actual motor current falls within the setting range.

③ Trip Class 10 

The MS165 series uses Trip Class 10, suitable for standard industrial motor starting and protection applications.

④ Built-in Disconnect Function

The integrated rotary handle provides clear switch-position indication and can be locked to help prevent unauthorized operation.

⑤ Fault Indication

A separate indication window provides clear fault indication following short-circuit tripping.

⑥ Temperature Compensation

Provides stable protection over the specified ambient temperature range.
