The MS165-65 has an adjustable current range of 52–65 A and is suitable for motor protection applications up to approximately 30 kW at 400 V AC, depending on the actual motor rated current and coordination requirements. ABB's current product data lists the 65 A model as part of the MS165 range.

It also provides a manual disconnect function, temperature compensation, trip-free operation, fault indication and a lockable rotary handle.

Main Features

① Thermal & Magnetic Motor Protection

Provides integrated protection against:

  • Motor overload
  • Short circuit
  • Phase failure
  • Overcurrent

The overload current setting can be adjusted from 52 to 65 A.

② Trip Class 10

The MS165 series uses Trip Class 10, suitable for standard industrial motor-starting applications.

③ Built-in Disconnect Function

The integrated rotary handle provides clear:

  • ON
  • OFF
  • TRIP

position indication.

The handle can also be locked to help prevent unauthorized operation.

④ Phase-Failure Protection

The MS165 provides sensitivity to phase loss, helping protect three-phase motors against abnormal operating conditions.

⑤ Temperature Compensation

The device is temperature compensated over its specified operating range of -25 to +60 °C.

⑥ Trip-Free Mechanism

The mechanism allows the protective function to operate independently of the manual handle position.
