Function
Support for multiple types of thermocouples
Supports B, E, J, K, T, R and S type thermocouples, covering a wide temperature range (-270 to 1820°C), and can be configured as a single type (8 channels) or two types (4 channels each).
Supports millivolt input (±100 mV), suitable for low-level signal acquisition.
High resolution and accuracy
The thermocouple has a resolution of 0.1°C/°F and a millivolt resolution of 1 µV, providing high-precision measurement.
The accuracy ranges from ±0.5°C to ±1.5°C (for thermocouples) or ±0.1% (millivolts), making it suitable for demanding temperature monitoring.
Cold End Compensation (CJC) :
Built-in cold junction compensation (0 to 60°C, accuracy ±0.5°C), and the sensor on the 1771-WI wiring arm corrects the influence of ambient temperature to ensure the accuracy of thermocouple measurement.
Channel isolation
Provide 1000 VDC isolation between channels and input to the backplane to prevent signal interference and ground loops, and improve system reliability.
Data transmission
The block transfer read/Write (BTR/BTW) instructions are used to transfer the input data from the module memory to the PLC processor data table and receive the configuration data.
The conversion time is approximately 50 ms per channel, and the 8-channel scanning is about 400 ms, making it suitable for real-time temperature monitoring.
Diagnostic function:
Support open-circuit detection to identify thermocouple disconnection faults.
It provides high/low temperature alarms (which can be set by the user), and the operation and fault status are displayed through the green RUN and red FLT indicator lights.
When powered on, perform self-diagnosis and report the status of the module.
Modular design
It occupies one I/O rack slot, does not require an external power supply, and is compatible with PLC-5 processors (such as 1785-L80C) and power modules (such as 1771-P5).
The 1771-WI connection arm is used, supporting unbroken removal/insertion (RIUP, power off required).
Configuration flexibility:
Configure the thermocouple type, range, temperature unit (°C/°F) and filtering parameters through RSLogix 5 or Studio 5000 Logix Designer.
