Programming and Configuration

Compatible software: Studio 5000 Logix Designer (formerly RSLogix 5000), used for module parameter setting, configuration of Change of State (COS), and adjustment of input filtering time.

Function

Independent isolation channel

Each input channel is independently isolated (250V isolation, input to the backplane and input to input). Even if one channel fails, the other channels can still operate normally, making it suitable for high-reliability applications.

Supports Sinking and Sourcing configurations, and is compatible with multiple wiring methods.

Flexible communication format:

Support multiple data formats:

Standard input data format: Return fault and input data.

CST timestamp input data format: Returns input data and change timestamp, suitable for sequential events (SOE) applications.

Rack-optimized data format: Collect digital word data from remote racks and convert it into rack images.

Only listen in mode (including standard, CST timestamp and rack-optimized format).

Input information can be shared with the ControlLogix controller via EtherNet/IP or ControlNet network, and it supports Producer/Consumer technology.

State Change (COS) function:

Supports user-configured State changes (Change of State). When the state of the input signal changes, it immediately triggers logical execution, bypassing the normal scanning cycle of the processor, and is suitable for applications with rapid response.

Status monitoring

Equipped with LED diagnostic indicator lights:

OK indicator light: Green indicates normal operation, flashing red indicates communication issues, and red indicates that the module needs to be replaced.

16 input status indicator lights: Yellow indicates input activation.

Supports user-configurable filtering time (0, 1, 2, 9 or 18 ms), optimizes input signal processing, and meets the requirements of fast switching or noise reduction.

Modular design

Supports RIUP, Removal and Insertion Under Power, which is convenient for maintenance and replacement.

Connect the on-site wiring through the RTB (1756-TBCH or 1756-TBS6H) or 1492 interface module (IFM) to simplify the installation.

Support Electronic Keying to prevent incorrect module replacement.

Support multiple input devices:

Compatible with a variety of DC input devices, such as buttons, limit switches, proximity sensors, relay contacts, etc.

It can be used directly with 24V DC signals. If AC signals are used, appropriate intermediate circuits need to be installed.

Independent isolation channels are suitable for process control systems that require high reliability and no interference between channels.

Safety interlock: In the safety system, it detects the status of the emergency stop button or safety sensor, triggers a safety shutdown or interlock operation, and independently isolates to ensure signal reliability.

Sequential Event Recording (SOE) : Supports the CST timestamp data format and is suitable for applications that require precise recording of event sequences, such as power systems or critical mission monitoring.

Counting application: It is used for counting objects passing through sensors, such as product counting on production lines, and is suitable for medium-speed input signal processing.

Distributed control system: Integrated into the distributed I/O system via EtherNet/IP or ControlNet network, it is suitable for large factories or remote monitoring applications, such as the PlantPAx DCS platform.

Traditional system maintenance: 1756-IB16I is often used for the maintenance or expansion of existing ControlLogix systems, and is particularly suitable for high-reliability scenarios that require independent isolated channels.
