The Eaton MTL5514 is a 1-channel intrinsically safe galvanic isolator designed for interfacing a hazardous-area switch or NAMUR proximity detector with safe-area control equipment. It provides line fault detection (LFD) and phase reversal functions and uses a relay output with changeover contacts.

Intrinsically Safe Galvanic IsolatorThe MTL5514 belongs to Eaton's MTL5500 Series of intrinsically safe galvanic isolators. It allows a switch or proximity detector located in a hazardous area to control a safe-area load through an isolated relay.
The module provides one input channel, accepts a 20–35 V DC power supply, and supplies approximately 7–9 V DC to the field sensor. Line Fault Detection can identify open- and short-circuit conditions, while phase reversal can be selected using switches on the side of the unit.
The safe-area output uses a single-pole relay with changeover contacts. The MTL5514 is designed for Zone 0 hazardous-area applications and is mounted on a standard 35 mm DIN rail.
