Embedded PC / PLC ControllerThe CX8080 combines PLC functionality and PC-based control in a compact DIN-rail housing. It runs TwinCAT 2 PLC runtime and uses Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6. The Ethernet interface is used for programming and configuration, while the RS232 and RS485 interfaces provide protocol-neutral serial communication.
The controller can directly connect to Beckhoff K-bus or E-bus terminals, automatically recognizing the connected I/O system during startup. It also includes an integrated 1-second UPS for saving persistent data during a power interruption.

The CX8280 is a newer-generation controller with an Arm Cortex-A53 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB LPDDR4 RAM, 1 Gbit Ethernet, USB 3.0, RS232/RS485 and TwinCAT 3/Beckhoff RT Linux.
Important: CX8280 should be treated as the official recommended successor/alternative, not a drop-in replacement. Hardware, operating system, TwinCAT version and application software migration should be checked before substitution.
