The ABB FPNO-21 is a two-port PROFINET IO adapter module designed to provide PROFINET connectivity for compatible ABB drives. It supports PROFINET IO, PROFIdrive and ABB drive profiles and includes an integrated Ethernet switch for network line and ring topologies.

The ABB FPNO-21 is a dedicated PROFINET IO fieldbus adapter for ABB common-architecture drives. It is installed into an option slot on the drive control unit and provides two RJ45 Ethernet connections, allowing the drive to participate in PROFINET networks without requiring an external Ethernet switch for basic line or ring topologies.

The module supports PROFINET IO according to IEC 61158/61784 and Conformance Class B, with PROFIdrive and ABB drive profiles. Its integrated switch supports MRP ring redundancy, while S2 functionality allows primary and backup PROFINET controllers to communicate with supported ABB drives. Shared Device functionality can also allow separate controllers to access drive-control and safety functions.

FPNO-21 additionally provides Ethernet-based services such as HTTPS, SNMP, SNTP, OPC UA and Drive Composer Pro connectivity. ABB lists the module as compatible with ACS380, ACS480, ACS580, ACH580, ACQ580, ACS880, DCS880 and DCT880 drive families.
