Product parameters

Module type: SLC 500 multi-channel high-speed counter module.

Compatibility: Applicable to SLC 500 fixed or modular controller racks, occupying a single slot, and compatible with all SLC 500 CPU modules and 1747-ASB remote I/O adapters.

Quantity: 4 single-ended inputs (Counter 1 and Counter 2) or 2 differential orthogonal inputs.

Input voltage range:

4.2-12V DC (low voltage range).

10-30V DC (high voltage range).

Maximum input frequency: 1 MHz (orthogonal or pulse mode).

Minimum pulse width: 0.475 µs.

Counting range: ±8,388,607 (24 bits).

Preset input: Only Counter 1 and Counter 2 support one preset input. There are no presets for Counter 3 and Counter 4.

Output channel:

Quantity: 8 outputs.

Output current: Maximum 1 A per channel, total current 2 A.

Open-state voltage range: 5-30V DC.

Function

Multi-channel high-speed counting: Supports input frequencies up to 1 MHz, suitable for 4 single-ended pulse counters or 2 differential orthogonal counters, processing fast signals.

Bidirectional counting: Supports orthogonal encoders (±A, ±B, ±Z) to achieve bidirectional counting, suitable for forward and reverse motion detection.

Multiple operation modes:

Range mode: Supports 16 counting ranges, dynamically configuring circular or linear counting.

Rate mode: Measures pulse frequency (Hz), suitable for speed monitoring.

Sequential mode: Adaptive periodic rate counting without the need for a predefined sequence.

Flexible output control: 8 outputs support rapid response, independent of SLC processor scanning, suitable for closed-loop control.

Dynamic adjustment: Supports adjusting control parameters during the counting process. The Z channel is used for storing, maintaining or resetting counting data.

Noise suppression: It is recommended to use shielded cables and keep them away from noise sources to reduce false pulses of low-frequency signals.

Diagnostic function: Built-in LED indicator for monitoring module status, communication activities and fault diagnosis.

Application scenarios

Motion control: Connected to an orthogonal encoder, it monitors the rotational speed and position of the motor or mechanical device, and is suitable for servo systems, conveyor belts or packaging machines.

High-speed counting: It is used for product counting, length measurement or part counting on the production line, and is suitable for high-speed counting scenarios, such as filling lines.

Speed monitoring: Measure the pulse frequency in rate mode and apply it to the speed detection of fans, pumps or conveying systems.

Position monitoring and control: Supports long-distance, high-speed counting and position control, suitable for cutting equipment or material handling systems.

Industrial automation: Integrated into the SLC 500 system for factory automation, such as assembly lines, packaging equipment or process control.
