2025 Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the traditional festivals in China, with a history of more than two thousand years. It is an important cultural symbol of the Chinese nation. It is usually celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. On this day, people commemorate historical figures and pray for health and peace through various customs.

This festival is to commemorate the death of Qu Yuan, an honest and trustworthy poet and statesman who was said to have drowned himself in a river.

Among them, the most famous customs include eating zongzi and dragon boat racing. Zongzi is made by wrapping various fillings in glutinous rice and then steaming them in bamboo leaves, symbolizing reunion and happiness. Dragon boat racing originated from the ancient dragon worship ceremony and has now become a passionate sports activity.

In addition, people also hang mugwort and calamus to ward off evil spirits and prevent diseases. These customs not only reflect the commemoration of historical figures, but also the emphasis on nature and health.
